Pinball Bash X was held recently and it definitely lived up to its billing. It was the tenth year that Tom has held this party in his basement, and this year it featured 19 vintage machines and 30 competitors. The lucky winner was slated to take home a vintage machine as the year’s top prize.
After a catered dinner and an hour or two of practice, the gun sounded and the competition was off. High score on each game took home a trophy, and the player with the most trophies won the title of “Grand Champion”.
Miss Pinball International and Miss Pinball Universe happened to be in the Northwest at the same time so the festivities were enhanced by their presence and beauty. Both women proved to be as talented as they were beautiful as they gave the men a run for their money on a couple of machines.
Three hours of ringing bells and clanging chimes ended at 10:00 and the trophies were handed out by the lovely ladies. A special award was given to Steve as Pinball Technician of the Decade, and the crowd roared its approval.
Competitors game from as far as Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. The last 15 minutes of action saw many leads change hands. At the end of the evening Spokane’s own Kevin was crowned the champion as he claimed high score on three of the machine. He chose to take home Williams Space Odyssey instead of the cash prize. Richie, who was tied for second place, took home the Game of Thrones translate signed by Steve Ritchie.
What a great night to celebrate pinball and good friends. Great job Tom and Steve!
