Pinball Bash XII, the 2018 edition, was recently held and once again was a great success. Thirty competitors spent the evening working over 21 vintage pinball machines. The machines ranged from the early 60s up until the mid 90s. There were many serious players and a few who just enjoyed the conversation and the feeling of being in an old time arcade.
The competition always gets fierce the last half hour as the scoreboard leads are constantly changing. We even had a tie on one of the machines and we had to have a playoff to determine a winner. There were two rookies in this year’s field and one veteran, who at the end of the evening, has won a total of 17 trophies over his career!
The trophies were handed out at the end of the night and four players were tied at the top of the leader board. There was a sudden death playoff, and Kevin K. was the winner in the end. For the second time in 3 years, Kevin took home a pinball machine for his efforts. What a great evening! A big thank you goes out once again to Tom and to Steve. Tom rounds up the extra machines each year to ensure there is a nice variety for the tournament. He managed to find a Williams Sea Ray which was awarded to this year’s MVP. He also gets the trophies, refreshments, and generally puts it all together.
The party could never happen without the talents of Steve. He has over forty years of experience working on pinball machines and arcade games. He is the best technician in the Northwest and we are fortunate to have him as part of the gang. The loudest cheer of the evening went up when Steve received his trophy for his forty years of service.
